Job Description

One of our strongest Insurance Companies is looking for a strong underwriter to join their P&C Team that specialises in Inland Marine Premium.

About the Opportunity

As a Inland Marine - Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriter, you’ll assess, evaluate, and make decisions on risks for new and existing customers while building and maintaining a profitable portfolio on a team specializing in Inland Marine and Transportation. Reporting to the Team Lead, you’ll support growth through marketing, analysis, sales, service, and underwriting—working closely with brokers, internal teams, and external partners to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and produce new/renewal Inland Marine P&C business, ensuring profitability and compliance with company guidelines.
  • Assess risks, analyze losses, price policies, and issue new business, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Manage assigned accounts from submission to expiration with accuracy and strong documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong broker and market relationships; identify and develop new P&C opportunities.
  • Collaborate across teams, provide exceptional customer service, and ensure operational excellence. Mentor and support junior staff while maintaining market knowledge and industry insights.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of P&C Underwriting experience. Commercial Preferred (open to more Sr. profiles as well.)
  • 1+ Years of Inland Marine P&C underwriting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or CIP or FCIP designation or equivalent
  • Experience Underwriting in a Domestic Company
  • Insurance License in the province of residence or ability to get licensed within 6 months of starting.
  • Strong communication skills, Relationship management with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in underwriting basic to moderately complex books of commercial property and casualty products

Nice to Have skills & Experience

  • CIP or FCIP designation or equivalent
  • Experience of knowledge in domestic markets and Lloyds of London (asset)
  • Experience training Jr. underwriters.
