Job Description

Oakwood Tokyo International School is an international school where children from nursery to elementary school learn in a global environment.

We are seeking a candidate with a valid nursing license or childcare worker (hoikushi) qualification in Japan who can serve as a school nurse , leading the school’s health and safety practices.

In this role, you will handle first aid, health management, coordination with medical institutions, communication with parents, and development of emergency procedures .

Additionally, you will teach Japanese language and culture classes for elementary school students three times a week (45 minutes each), helping children enjoy and engage with Japanese culture.

Key Responsibilities

School Nurse Duties:

• Provide first aid, respond to sick children, and handle minor injuries or accidents.
• Develop emergency procedures and guide staff on proper responses.
• Coordinate with medical institutions and communicate with parents (phone calls, reports).
• Plan and implement health checks, hygiene management, and infection control measures.

Childcare / Educational Duties:

• Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Plan and teach Japanese language and culture classes (3 sessions per week, 45 minutes each).
• Care for and guide children in a multicultural environment.

Administrative / Record-Keeping Duties:

• Maintain health and safety records and prepare reports (90% of paperwork is in Japanese).
• Manage documents and procedures according to standards for non-licensed childcare facilities (認可外保育施設).
