POSITION SUMMARY: Watts Water Technologies is seeking a skilled and motivated Master Machinist - Tool & Die to join our manufacturing team at our Woodland, CA facility. This role is ideal for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on machining experience, and a passion for producing high-precision components. Whether you're entry-level with vocational training or an experienced machinist seeking a dynamic environment, this position offers career growth, technical development, and exposure to advanced machining operations.
As a Master Machinist, you will support the production of custom tooling, prototype parts, and high-tolerance components essential to our manufacturing process. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with critical thinking skills and the ability to consistently meet precise dimensional specifications while upholding a strong commitment to safety and quality.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: \n - Collaborate with engineering to produce prototypes, first-article components, and custom tooling.
\n - Execute complex setups for machining components to precise tolerances using manual machine tools.
\n - Inspect and verify all machined parts against specifications and adjust setups as necessary.
\n - Modify or rework components to support production needs and design revisions.
\n - Assist in the identification and implementation of process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives.
\n - Maintain tooling and equipment in optimal condition, reporting any maintenance needs.
\n - Document production data and machine settings for repeatability and continuous improvement.
\n - Mentor and support junior machinists and apprentices to develop shop floor capabilities.
\n - Comply with all safety, environmental, and quality protocols.
\n - Contribute to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
\n - Support the development and execution of long-term CI strategy tailored to business needs.
\n - Designing and reverse-engineering damaged die components and fixtures.

Minimum Required Skills Technical Skills: \n - Proficient in manual machining techniques, including lathe, mill, and drill press operations
\n - Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
\n - Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators
\n - Understanding of various materials and their machining characteristics (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, tool steel, brass, and plastics)
\n - Basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance capabilities for machine tools
\n - Familiarity with shop math, including decimals, fractions, and geometry relevant to machining
\n - Familiarity with Die Design & Formed

EDUCATION: \n - High school diploma or GED required.
\n - Completion of an accredited machining program, trade school, or technical certification strongly preferred.
\n - Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field is a plus

EXPERIENCE: \n - 3+ years of hands-on experience in Tool & Die, and high-precision machining.
\n - Deep knowledge of machine tool operation, material behavior, and troubleshooting techniques.
\n - Proven ability to perform complex setups and hold tight tolerances.
\n - Experience with custom or prototype machining in a regulated industry.
\n - Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Compensation: $31-$40 hour MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISION: This position will collaborate extensively with site leadership, engineering team and cross-functional teams but does not have direct reports.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: \n - Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
\n - Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for precision tasks.
\n - Tolerance to manufacturing conditions, including noise, oil, and temperature variation.

\n - May occasionally perform duties outside typical office settings, including production areas.
