Position Summary

DESCRIPTION:
The Photographer/Videographer is a creative visual storyteller responsible for producing high-quality video and photography that support York Colleges marketing and communications goals. This role will prioritize video production while continuing to provide photographic coverage of key campus events and initiatives.

The Photographer/Videographer collaborates with the marketing team and campus partners to capture and produce engaging visual content that strengthens York Colleges brand and digital presence. The content produced by this role is designed to engage a range of audiences, including current students, faculty, and staff; alumni and donors; community partners; and prospective students and families.

The Photographer/Videographer produces high-quality video and photo content that strengthens York Colleges storytelling and brand identity. Their work engages current students, faculty, and staff; builds pride and connection among alumni and donors; highlights the Colleges role in the broader community; and supports outreach to prospective students and families. Essential Functions

Video Production (50%)

  • Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality videos, including student stories, faculty highlights, promotional features, and campus events.
  • Create short-form video content optimized for social platforms (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).
  • Manage video workflow from pre-production through post-production.
  • Incorporate light motion graphics and titles (basic After Effects or Premiere tools).
Photography (30%)
  • Capture images that highlight campus life, academic programs, and events.
  • Provide photo support for marketing campaigns, publications, and digital platforms.
  • Ensure photography aligns with brand standards and marketing needs.
Editing & Asset Management (15%)
  • Edit photos and videos for distribution across web, social, and print.
  • Maintain an organized photo/video archive with searchable metadata.
  • Prepare content for multiple platforms and formats.
Team Support & Collaboration (5%)
  • Partner with marketing staff to identify compelling stories and visual opportunities.
  • Provide creative input to enhance marketing campaigns.
  • Support requests from campus clients for basic photography/videography.
Experience and Education Required

  • Bachelors degree
  • 2 or more years of professional video/photography experience.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing video production and photography.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Ability to transport and set up video/photography equipment.
  • Drone experience/certification a plus, but not required.
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom; After Effects a plus).
  • Ability to operate professional video and photography equipment.
  • Strong creative vision with the ability to translate concepts into engaging visual stories.
  • Proficiency in video editing, including color balancing and audio adjustments.
  • Familiarity with creating short-form content for social platforms and other digital properties.
  • Organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple projects with deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Commitment to staying current with evolving trends in video and photography.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends for events.
  • Drone experience/certification preferred.
