A forward-thinking consultancy is looking for an experienced professional to lead energy efficiency and decarbonization efforts across a diverse portfolio of building types. This is an opportunity for someone with a background in building systems — especially within healthcare environments — to drive real-world improvements today while shaping the long-term transition to low-carbon operations.

In this role, you’ll apply your expertise to optimize building performance and guide strategic planning for asset renewal and decarbonization. While healthcare projects are a core focus, you’ll also contribute to work across commercial, institutional, and public-sector buildings. You'll be part of a team actively influencing building standards, policies, and best practices nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Immediate Impact

• Lead building recommissioning initiatives by reviewing design documentation, assessing system performance, and identifying optimization opportunities.
• Diagnose energy and performance issues in mechanical and electrical systems, and develop evidence-based, actionable solutions.
• Balance occupant comfort, operational efficiency, compliance, and system resilience in your recommendations.

Shape Long-Term Change

• Support clients in strategic decarbonization planning, aligning emissions goals with infrastructure renewal and capital investment cycles.
• Lead and contribute to applied research projects and knowledge development efforts that inform better design, construction, and operational practices.
• Develop tools, templates, and performance benchmarks to guide project delivery and regulatory compliance.
• Present insights and recommendations to a range of stakeholders — from technical teams to executive leadership.

What You Bring

• Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation with 5–10+ years of experience in healthcare or complex institutional facilities (design, commissioning, operations, or equivalent).
• Strong technical foundation in mechanical and electrical building systems.
• Experience optimizing building systems and developing long-term transition strategies.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring, project coordination, and strategic direction-setting.
• Analytical mindset and a passion for understanding how buildings perform — and how they can improve.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and collaboration skills, with a track record of managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
