Job Purpose

The Staff Accountant in Tokyo, Japan is responsible for all day-to-day, monthly accounting duties of the Japan legal entity. Work produced must be complete, accurate, and timely, and in compliance with all pertinent accounting regulations, i.e., US GAAP, Japan statutory, Japan tax, and corporate policies & procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day general ledger entries
• Payroll monthly related entries, accruals, taxes and insurances
• Calculation of Royalties for APAC countries
• Assist with monthly closing and reconciliation
• Assist with tax related documents for year-end closing process
• Global intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• As backup for another staff accountant (mainly Accounts payable)
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent accounting knowledge and work experience
• Hands-on experience in accounting software, preferable Oracle
• Has/strong experience in general accounting or tax accounting will be highly regarded
• High attention to detail
• Ability to understand accounting and financial processes, methodologies, concepts and have good knowledge of GAAP and willingness to research and resolve accounting issues
• Ability to work under fast-paced environment
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Must be advanced in Excel (not limited to pivot, VLOOKUP)
• Business level of Japanese and English (can read contract in Japanese language)
