Staff Accountant – Public Accounting (Hybrid, Full-Time, Permanent)

Salary: $45,000–$60,000 per year

Our client, a well-established and growing public accounting firm, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in St. Catharines. The Role
As a Staff Accountant, you’ll play an important role in delivering exceptional client service through a variety of accounting, assurance, and tax engagements. You’ll work closely with managers and partners on diverse client files while continuing to build your technical and client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare compilation and review engagements with accuracy and attention to detail
• Assist in audit engagements under manager supervision
• Prepare corporate, personal, and trust tax returns (T1, T2, T3, T4, T5)
• Maintain client communication and ensure timely follow-ups and updates
• Support and mentor co-op students or junior staff when needed
• Assist with planning and completion of assurance and tax files
• Stay current with changes in accounting and tax standards
About You
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1+ years of public accounting experience
• CPA designation in progress (PEP level preferred)
• Proficiency with CaseWare, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
