Right now, we are looking to strengthen our Japan Marketing team with a Culture Marketing Manager, who will plan and execute Japan Music Strategy as well as manage and expand our local music and culture network in Japan. The role will require deep cooperation with local artists, music, and culture community partners, and local market stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Operations, and eCom. The role will manage all local music community events and activations. The role will be based in Tokyo, but will require traveling to music festivals in Japan as well as to the UK. The role reports to the Japan Marketing Manager, based in Tokyo, Japan.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Marshall's Music Strategy in the Japanese market. 
  • Manage local artist relations for Marshall Group.
  • Identify partnerships and high-profile local musician endorsement opportunities, from grassroots to major, that are relevant to drive our brand positioning. 
  • Build and manage strong relationships across the music industry including but not limited to artists, labels, venues, and producers, etc.
  • Promote Marshall Amplifier category and support Musical Instruments (MI) product launch and promotions, working closely with our MI distributor and partners.
  • Lead campaign-related music production and events with live shows included, based on Local Consumer Plan to promote the Marshall brand and products. 
  • Collaborate with our global teams to manage MI seeding samples in the Japanese market and the local translations process.
  • Attend and assist Music and Culture activations to make sure artists, staff, and guests have the best experience.
  • Empower the next generation of musicians with inspiring and relevant ambassadors and content for the Japanese market. 
  • Work with both Global and Regional Culture teams, as well as Marshall Records team to advocate for Japanese talent endorsement.

Who we’re looking for:

You have strong ties within the music community. You have deep knowledge of Japan’s music landscape and industry practices. You are skilled at storytelling that connects with both musicians and audiences. You bring project management experience and have managed creative and production resources. You have a collaborative mindset and work well across global, regional, and local teams. You are a strategic self-starter who can drive a music strategy from planning to execution. 

You probably have the following experiences & skills:

  • 5 or more years of experience in artist and music community management, or working across categories in music brands, labels, and relevant media. Experience in both agency and in-house settings is a big plus.
  • Acute awareness of music trends and a conversational knowledge of nightlife, live music, art in all its forms and mediums, dance, fashion, and culture in Japan.
  • Proven experience in planning music and cultural strategies, with an integrated approach to community engagement and producing live concerts.
  • Established network in Japan in the fields of music and culture, including but not limited to DJs, bands, promoters, talent agents, talent managers, record label contacts, PR contacts, etc. 
  • Native or working proficiency in both English and Japanese
