Job Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Manager – Health & Safety, this entry-level position is responsible for providing field support with a primary focus on administrating the health and safety management system. The position operates in a high paced environment, building relationships with multiple stakeholders including Superintendents, Project Managers and sub contractors. The role is primarily field based supporting projects in Calgary and the immediate surrounding area .

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct regular site safety inspections and hazard assessments
• Recommend and assist with implementation of corrective actions and controls
• Assist with site risk mitigation checklist planning, including crane lifts, confined space, ground disturbance and fall protection systems
• Assist with site emergency response planning
• Develop safe work practices and safety job procedures
• Provide general site safety guidance and support
• Lead site toolbox safety meetings
• Conduct onsite quality review of Supervision safety documentation
• Provide coaching on safety legislation and Delnor safety program to Supervision
• Conduct internal training, where qualified
• Attend project and client meetings, when required
• Able to work in a high-paced environment
• Liaison between the field and project managers
• Additional tasks, as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• NCSO required (preferred)
• OHS Occupational Health & Safety related education an asset
• Valid First Aid required (preferred)

Experience: 1 – 5 years’ experience within the commercial construction field in a safety advisory or coordinator role. 1–2 years of experience in a safety advisory or coordinator role within the commercial construction industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel: Travel and own vehicle required.
