Title: Branch Merchandise Planner

Reporting to: Head of Merchandising and Planning

Location: Vancouver, HQ

Salary: 85-95k

The Opportunity:

The Merchandise Branch Planner is responsible for supporting the merchandising department in optimizing inventory across the business and in turn improve trade performance to maximize sales and margin for JD Sports Canada. This person will work closely with planning, buying, allocations, retail and supply chain departments to ensure the stores are stocked with productive assortments and to agreed capacity levels.

Key Responsibilities/ Duties:

Inventory optimization and management (80%)

  • Review weekly capacity reports providing key callouts to Planners and Allocators at the store level.
  • Identify areas of focus and compile action plans for over/under stocked stores.
  • Analyse performance of Outlets and Clearance stores weekly and manage their inventory requirements.
  • Champion the booking process of inventory and act as liaison between buying and planning to control outbound to stores.
  • Propose and agree replenishment levels weekly.
  • Optimize the inventory between the DCs weekly to reduce the overall replenishment time.
  • Review and manage stock levels for top styles across the business.
  • Analyze the performance of actions and report efficiency, compile best practices for future reference.
  • Review retail feedback across stores, checking relevance and distributing to departments to complete.
  • Become the link between Retail and Merchandising with a strong focus on driving improved performance, relationships, and best practices.

Planning Duties & Development (20%)

  • Support planners with seasonal space planning, aligning brand performance to space and visual needs.
  • Working with the Buying and Planning departments; optimize in season stores assortments and brand mix to align with space and performance expectation.
  • Lead testing, feedback and development on system functionalities that impact allocations/ replenishments/stock management.
  • Train and coach future branch planners.
  • Support NSO stock builds, ensuring stores receive relevant assortments in right volume.

The Requirements:

  • 2+ years of retail experience
  • 3+ years of merchandise allocation experience.
  • Possess an innate understanding of inventory management, merchandise planning and supply chain in a retail environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Entrepreneurship – an ability to make decisions and take calculated risks.
  • Experience in data analysis and Microsoft office software, specifically excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive and goal-oriented individual
