ABOUT THE POSITION:

In this role, you will report directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer and will lead the International commercial organization, encompassing both the Orthopaedics and General Surgery portfolios. To view our complete portfolio of products, view our Medical Specialties and Products . You will be working with the Regional and Country General Managers to drive greater market penetration, commercial entry and sales growth across the direct and indirect markets, globally. You will be a strong relationship builder with the international commercial team, the corporation functions, as well as with customers.

The VP/GM will need to balance strategic thinking with operational execution. You will be an expert in commercial (Sales Force) excellence and market / business development. The VP/GM is results-focused and has skills to further develop the General Managers and other functional leaders on the International Leadership Team (ILT). They must have a demonstrated background in leadership identification, drive organizational engagement, performance manage and a strong P&L understanding. Demonstrated sales and marketing expertise in complex and competitive medical technology markets are key.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct management of 7 Regional and Country General Managers, International VP Finance, International VP Human Resources, and Heads of International Marketing for Orthopaedics, General Surgery and Foot & Ankle.
  • Indirect management of International Distribution, Quality, Regulatory, Compliance and commercial operations. These functions sit in the International scope of responsibility and are led in alignment with our global functional leaders.
  • Provide leadership and deliver growth for the various product lines, internationally. Lead the formulation of business plans with the GMs and ensure consistent implementation and alignment.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the organizations. Lead efforts to drive organizational change and establish a high-performance culture. Act as an agent of change, propose and gain acceptance for new business initiatives and processes. Partner with other executives in the company to execute these plans.
  • Represent CONMED at medical conventions. Establish relationships with key thought leaders, hospital administrators, industry partners and government agencies.
  • Ensure the various businesses operate in a manner consistent with CONMED’s Vision, Mission, Pillars and Quality Policy.
  • Leadership and partnership with M&A in discovering / supporting the discovery of product / company acquisitions, integration and subsequent deal model growth.
  • Build and develop a talented, high performing and engaged team and establish a clear succession plan for all the key roles.
  • Develop a winning culture that reflects high performance, diversity, trust and teamwork.
  • Strengthen the brand presence and improve the brand awareness via effective marketing communication programs and endorsement by the industry professionals or key opinion leaders.
  • Aggressively build the business while maintaining profitable growth.
  • Establish clear measurable KPIs for all the top team members.
  • A seat at the CONMED executive table with the responsibilities of ensure the International business in connected to the overall CONMED strategy, business and culture.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business or related. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience, with 3+ at an executive leadership team level, including partnering with multiple/large business groups/regions.
  • Commercial experience in the medical device industry required.
  • Candidates must reside in a time zone that allows for consistent overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours, specifically between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM ET. Candidates must also reside in a location where a CONMED Legal Entity exists

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BRING:

  • Global / International experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated P&L management experience.
  • Successful experience leading one or more commercial businesses.
  • Demonstrated proven track record in sales, marketing and/or general management across organizations which were growing and innovating
  • Demonstrated success in developing and sustaining a culture of high performance, engagement and talent development, diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent commercial and business acumen to navigate, and negotiate with, key stakeholders, both internal and external, in a challenging and competitive environment.
  • Strong track record of growth and achieving results in line with business objectives, including profit targets and building top and bottom line growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to create new and innovative approaches in achieving the business targets.
  • Knowledgeable in the medical industry with a good network with the customers, surgeon network and distributors.
